Indiana Living Green is a consumers’ guide to a green lifestyle they can live with, one that is earth friendly and doable for our readers. The magazine offers news briefs, reviews, how-tos and tips along with profiles of those living or working the green lifestyle in Indiana. It is supported primarily by advertising and has a circulation of 18,000.
Our readers are young families to baby-boomers, well educated, environmental and outdoor enthusiasts, interested in hearth and home. They have some understanding of and interest in the green lifestyle. They are looking for ways to incorporate environmentally friendly products, practices and services into their lifestyle. Our magazine gives them the information they need to make the best decisions for their lifestyle, from gardening to the clothes they wear to the house they live in, car they drive and trips they take.
Writers, photographers and artists are invited to submit well-reported, thorough, well-written, accurate articles, clean, sharp, focused photos or illustrations, including cartoons, on the topics above for consideration. Almost all articles should have two or more sources and run in the 500- to 750-word range. Please include short sidebars and info/resource boxes where appropriate. Any of the topics can be covered in several types of articles, such as profiles of those living or working the green lifestyle, new products or services, reviews, trends, helpful hints, briefs and resources.
- Work must be original with the author, photographer or artist and written in Associated Press (AP) style. The writer must provide sources’ contact information. Submitted work is subject to fact checking. Reprints may be accepted if they weren’t in large publications or widely distributed. - Work must be submitted in an electronic format, preferably in a Word™ file or similar document. Typewritten and handwritten manuscripts will not be accepted. Artwork may be submitted in electronic format or as original or high quality copy. Original image for electronic photos and artwork should be at least 3-inch by 5-inch, 300 dpi, jpeg file. We will make every effort to return original artwork and photos, but that cannot be guaranteed.
- Articles and artwork must include scientific names of plants, insects, animals, diseases and bacteria, where appropriate.
- North American serial and photo rights, plus electronic rights for 24 months are purchased. Indiana Living Green also will post articles, photos and artwork on the www.IndianaLivingGreen.com Web site on a rotating basis. The articles also will be held in our archives. Writers, photographers and artists retain copyright and re-sale rights.
- Writers and artists may submit query or send document to editor@indianalivinggreen.com.
- Rates are negotiable and start at $25 for articles and $10 for photos, illustration and other art. Payment upon publication. A kill fee of $25 will be paid if an assigned article, photograph or artwork does not run.
