Help… can you recommend any green caterers in Indy?
Kelly
Dear Kelly,
If there’s one thing I can help with, it’s food. I love it, especially when it’s local and sustainable.
There are a few experts that I look to for green grub. Going Local celebrates fresh, in-season and local foods, and offers a list of restaurants, bed & breakfasts and caterers that fit her criteria. Slow Food Indy are the people who walk the talk by promoting Central Indiana’s Food Culture. Here are some of my fave foodies who cater.
If you haven’t been to Goose the Market yet, what are you waiting for? Prefer for them to come to you? Hire their Mobile Smoke Stack to prepare local pasture-raised, all-natural meats for your next event. If four legs on two wheels doesn’t quite fit the ambiance of your event, find a caterer that serves Smoking Goose meats.
The Juniper Spoon can handle every detail of your catered event, right down to fresh-cut flower arrangements from their own garden. They grow their own organic fruits and vegetables, and prepare each dish from scratch from local ingredients.
Feast of Bloomington offers organic catering in South Central Indiana – and they catered our wedding! Some may know them best for their homemade tamales stuffed with local, organic and homegrown goodness, but Feast can prepare a menu for any occasion.
Avec Moi focuses on three main green principles when catering: sourcing local, seasonal ingredients when possible, using reusable tableware, and preparing the right amount of food to prevent loads of waste. Whether a small dinner party for six or your office holiday party, leave the cooking to the happy-go-foodie.
If you’ve ever had a Goat Cheese, Potato & Mustard Green Quesadilla or Balance Bowl from Duos, you know they can make seasonal sensational. They have 90 years combined catering experience and can accommodate everything from vegan to gluten-free to meaty deliciousness.
Finally, if you’re looking for something a bit for cazh, the downtown Indy Pita Pit is a Certified Green Restaurant and Chipotle has a Food With Integrity policy.
Do you have a favorite green caterer? Don’t just tell me – post it in the comments section for all to see.
Piece out,
Renee
