Dear Renee, where can you take desk jet printer cartridges as well as large printer cartridges? I would like to recycle to raise money for the United Way. Does any place in Indy pay for these?

Thanks,

Sherry

Dear Sherry,

Many nonprofits collect printer cartridges to raise money for their cause. My favorite is Indiana Recycling Coalition. It just makes sense – recycle your cartridges, support local recycling initiatives!

I’m not aware of a specific United Way cartridge fundraiser, but I imagine some of the local United Way agencies might do their own collection as a fundraiser. I called a handful and didn’t find any takers, but you might try your favorites to see what they say. If any of our readers know of such a program, please post it in the Comments section for everyone to see.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, my pals at RecycleForce, 1125 Brookside Avenue, Suite D12, will also take spent printer cartridges.

Piece out,

Renee

Dress for Success Indianapolis is a great local organization that accepts toner and printer cartridges as a fund-raiser. Contact Brandy Wright at 940-3737 x101 for directions.

A little more of a materialistic slant, Staples will also give you $2 in store credit per cartridge, which helps with school supplies

Cartridge World takes empty cartridges and refills them with ink to resell. It’s a great way to reuse AND less expensive than buying new.
