Do you know of anywhere in Indy (southside preferably) that sells compost in large quantities? I’m looking to blanket our 80×40 garden area with a layer of compost this fall to freshen it up a bit after the season?
I like where you’re going with this – no accumulation of big plastic bags to store for your next visit to RecycleForce. Yes, there are several places to get bulk compost and mulch – either pick up or delivery. I personally have used Dammann’s and Greencycle. One thing I love about Greencycle is that they accept residential and business food waste for composting. A quick web search also points to other great locally-owned stores like Tiffany Lawn & Garden Supply and Indiana Mulch. Not to be a garden meddler – and I’m definitely not an expert – but there are a few other eco options for preparing your garden for winter and the next growing season. My friends at Spotts Garden Service recommend planting “nutrition-rich cover crops, such as red clover, buckwheat, alfalfa and rye” in their Fall Gardening Tips.
