Believe it or not, fall is right around the corner — and just in time for the return of the beloved Apple Store at Conner Prairie. On Sept. 1, the 27 year tradition will return with such treats as hand-dipped caramel apples, apple slushies and apple spice doughnuts. Or, if you are trying to quit your apple habit, the store will also feature local crafts, greeting cards, soaps and soy candles. Items which are new to the store this year include vegan and gluten-free products, cookies made by the Sisters of St. Benedict, and soup mixes.
The Conner Prairie Alliance, a women’s volunteer organization, runs the Apple store. Last year alone, Alliance volunteers hand-dipped almost 16,000 caramel apples! They are anticipating another busy season.
“The Alliance prepares all year for the Apple Store season. We look forward to seeing our returning customers, meeting new customers and giving as much as we can to Conner Prairie at the end of the season,” said Mandy Hunter, vice president of communication for the Conner Prairie Alliance.
There would be no better way to welcome autumn than to pick a bag of your own apples at Conner Prairie and be part of a longstanding fall tradition. On opening day a special offer will be available, 15 percent off all purchases in the store from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
