I have several pairs of denim jeans that are too worn to pass on to someone else. Not being a crafty sort, I wonder: What are my options for local recycling? I remember reading about insulation made from recycled denim, and I found this website: http://www.cottonfrombluetogreen.org/.
I wondered if you know of any local denim recycling programs or collection sites?
Thanks for your help!
You’re a gal after my own heart. After all, being green is in my jeans…er, I mean, genes.
I do not know of any programs like this in Indiana, but I still wanted to write about it just in case this email happens to inspire a local entrepreneur with the means to make it happen.
This concept is relatively new to the world of reuse/recycling. The main company doing this is Bonded Logic in Arizona. You can buy the Bonded Logic UltraTouch Denim Insulation from statewide Menards stores.
If you’re really dedicated to recycling your old denim, including that old Guns N’ Roses jacket, you can always mail it to Blue Jeans Go Green at your expense.
