I depart in less than two weeks for San Francisco to be part of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training and boy, am I getting excited. In fact, I bet no one has ever been more excited about learning a power point — in the history of power points.
See, this is the Inconvenient Truth power point, and the Climate Reality Project has been training people since Al Gore’s film came out to be able to present this lecture on climate change in their hometowns.
These hometowns are all over the planet. I am one of 1000 people selected to take this training and I will be meeting impassioned climate change believers from places like Africa, Europe, Central America and everywhere in the U.S.
It’s going to be amazing.
And I’m going to take you there. The whole journey. The trip, of course; what I learn, absolutely, and then, what happens when I return.
Would you like me to present this lecture to your classroom, your sustainability club, your eco-organization?
Let me know and I’ll try my best to fit you in.
Because I have a feeling a whole lot of people in Central Indiana are going to want to learn more about climate change. The recent drought, along with the past year and a half of extreme weather, has scared people — as it should.
We’ve known for a long time that we were upsetting the ecosystem with our unbridled consumption. It’s getting more and more obvious we are way out of whack with anything resembling “natural”; we’ve created our own unnatural climate.
And it’s a wild, unpredictable climate that results in weather that is ruining people’s lives.
I’ll be looking for partners in this journey, people willing to help me find these opportunities to present the power point, folks who can help make this experience more than a lecture, but a platform for solutions. Let’s include a potluck, a sing-along and a dance party.
Let’s learn together what is happening to our planet and what we can do about it.
More soon!
