In its effort to provide healthy menu options, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and Sodexo will be working together to offer Kids LiveWell-designated items at all dining locations within the museum. It is the first museum to join the Kids LiveWell program. The National Restaurant Association and Healthy Dining worked together to create this program. Kids LiveWell is also aligned with Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow Plan, which details the companies changes toward sustainability.
Menu items will follow the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines and include grilled chicken dippers, sliced apples, low fat milk, graham crackers, whole wheat pasta, and fruit cups. All options are reviewed and approved by Healthy Dining’s team of registered dieticians, too.
The Children’s Museum wants to continue educating visitors about family health initiatives. The Health House exhibit teaches families about active play and healthy food and lifestyle choices. Playfit play events are offered four times per year to help families continue the learning process at home and throughout their communities.
