CERCLA stands for the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). It is also known as superfund. The law was enacted in 1980 and was created to tax chemical and petroleum industries. It entails two types of response to industrial waste removal: short term, which necessitates immediate action, and long term, which is action taken to permanently decrease the danger of hazardous material being released.
