Carmel Green Initiative (CGI) is pleased to announce they will be offering the Lend-A-Bin program to event planners of church and school carnivals, sporting events, graduation parties, and neighborhood parties.
Through the program event planners are encouraged to borrow portable recycling bins to initiate recycling at their next event.
“Promoting efficient use of limited energy resources is key to sustainability. And we’re excited to offer the Lend-A-Bin program to make recycling of glass, plastic and aluminum beverage containers easier.” said Leslie Webb, president of Carmel Green Initiative, in a press release. “Event planners in Carmel won’t have to deal with the expense and hassle of purchasing and storing their own recycling bins, and can borrow the bins as needed.”
Carmel Dad’s Club (CDC) and Carmelfest are among the community’s organizations that support and participate in the Lend-A-Bin program.
“Carmel is a wonderful place where local organizations such as Carmel Green Initiative and Carmel Dad’s Club work together to be good stewards of our environment and the community. Our residents are deeply committed to recycling as shown by their enthusiastic participation in the citywide curbside recycling program and they will undoubtedly support this new initiative as well,” remarked Mayor Jim Brainard.
The CGI’s Lend-A-Bin program is made possible thanks to the Indiana Recycling Coalition/Alcoa Public Space Recycling Bin Grant Program, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Carmel Dad’s Club, the City of Carmel, the Carmel High School Environmental Club, Sustain Noblesville and community volunteers.
